Alabama
- No state-specific extension filing is required.

Alaska
- No state income taxes
Arizona
- If you filed for a federal extension, you are also covered for an Arizona extension.

- If you owe taxes, you should pay at least 90% of what you estimate you owe to avoid penalties and interest. You may pay here: Payment Individual (aztaxes.gov)
Arkansas
- If you filed for a federal extension, you are also covered for an Arkansas extension.

- Credit card payments may be made over the telephone by calling 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800-272-9829) or over the internet by visiting https://acipayonline.com and clicking the “State Payments” link and either choosing Arkansas or entering the jurisdiction code 1400.
California
- No state-specific extension filing is required.

Colorado
- No state-specific extension filing is required.

Connecticut
- If you do NOT owe CT taxes, no separate form is required for an extension.
- If you DO owe CT taxes, you must file the CT-1040 EXT and make a payment online by creating an account at myconneCT
- You may also file online for a hardship extension of time to pay; otherwise you must pay either 90% of your estimate of this year’s tax liability or 100% of last year’s tax liability in order to avoid penalties
Delaware
- If you do not owe DE taxes, no separate form is required for an extension.

District of Columbia (Washington)
- A federal extension does not grant you a DC extension

Florida
- No state income tax
Georgia
- If you have a federal extension, you do not need an additional Georgia extension

Hawaii

Massachusetts

Michigan
- If you do NOT owe tax, and you already have a federal extension, you do not need to file a Michigan extension

- If you owe tax, pay by April 15 to avoid penalties and interest. Pay with the filing of your Michigan extension online.

Minnesota

Montana
- No state-specific extension filing is required.

Nebraska
- If you received a federal extension, you do not need to file for a Nebraska extension.
- However, when you pay your Nebraska tax, if you do NOT file through a paid tax preparer, you must send a copy of your federal extension form, confirmation number, and an explanation that you have received an automatic federal extension. This additional documentation is not required if you file through an approved Electronic Return Originator, such as BossTax. - No state income tax
New Hampshire
- New Hampshire does not have an ordinary state income tax. Rather, it has an interest and dividend income tax if you have more than $2,400 in interest and dividend income.
- No additional form is required to file for a New Hampshire extension.

New Jersey
- If you have a federal extension, you do not need an additional extension filing for New Jersey

- You must file separately for a New York state extension. If you use software, you MUST e-file for your NY extension. You may also file on New York’s website, here: Personal Income Tax Extension (ny.gov)

North Carolina
- If you received a federal extension, you do not need an additional extension filing for North Carolina.
